July Exhibit: From The Forest

On Exhibit: July 8-29, 2022

From the Forest features functional objects in the natural woods of Indiana.

On Friday, July 8th, for Bloomington’s Gallery Walk, By Hand Gallery will be presenting work by gallery artists in oak, maple, walnut, and cherry—the variety of Indiana hardwood that has long been an inspiration for creative woodworkers.  From the Forest will feature sawn, turned, planed, woven, and carved functional wood objects that expose a rich array of this beautiful Indiana natural resource’s characteristics. Some of the included works are boxes by Steve Rapp, baskets from Nancy Graber, all-wood pocketknives of Tom Scarlett, Lon Haywood’s turned wood bowls, Marc Tschida’s hand-scrolled puzzles, Arts and Crafts referenced work of Centennial Craftsman, and the log stools of Walt Schmidt.

By Hand Gallery is a locally owned, cooperative gallery that currently has 12 artisan members. By Hand Gallery has been in the Bloomington community for over 30 years and has a reputation for selling art works that are of good design and quality craftsmanship. Besides our cooperative members, there are over 70 additional artists who sell their work through By Hand Gallery.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
