‘Celestial Shadows’: A celebration of Lunar and Solar Eclipses by Scott Johnson

Scott Johnson, the creator of ‘Celestial Shadows’ plans to bring prints from this April’s eclipse to By Hand as well as those from previous eclipses. His newest print is called ‘Continuum’.  He says “This 35 image composite of the continuum from the diamond ring, to Bailey’s beads, prominences, and the chromosphere displays images spaced 1 second apart. The center was extracted from a corona image photographed mid-eclipse. Photographed at my observatory in Bloomington using an Astro-Physics 155 f/7 refractor 4-8-2024.”

“I offer my images for sale as limited edition fine art presented on metal. When not photographing from my own observatory in Monroe County, I image remotely from other locations.

The images hanging in this show are Chromaluxe Metal Prints. These represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof and can be easily cleaned.
